The Sacred Twins of the Nuer
Among the Nuer people of South Sudan twins have always been regarded as sacred. Their birth was seen as a sign that the divine had touched the family and that the children carried within them powers beyond the ordinary. Unlike other births which celebrated the arrival of one child twins were believed to represent balance and unity the meeting of
